The cushions, the wardrobe, the toilet and the makeshift kitchen….

This has been a good weekend in terms of progress. Ian has been working on the wood and the wardrobe is now built. We have still to cut the hole in the front for the door but will wait until we see how high it needs to be to clear the mattress and also we’ll try to get a suitable door from Magnums so depends on the sizes they have available.

The side wall of the wardrobe is also the rear wall of the bathroom and the toilet is sitting in place. The bathroom is the last thing we will do as this is not a requirement for the insurance or the DVLA.

While Ian was working on this I was working on the seating at the front. We had bought the cushions from ebay at a bargain price but knew they would need to be adjusted in size. As they are sprung cushions this involved deconstructing the foam cutting the interior springs and sticking it all back together using trim fix. The results are good and all that remains now is for the covers to be sewn and fitted.

The next thing to be done is the kitchen and so to get an idea of how it will look we have placed the pieces on the floor.  It’s all really starting to take shape now and we can actually start to imagine what it might be like to get away in it.
